Brother Bimalananda was a beloved disciple of Paramahansa Yogananda who inspired countless souls over many decades through his joyous and pure-hearted dedication to God. He was accepted by Paramahansa Yogananda as a monk of the SRF monastic order in 1948, soon after meeting Paramahansaji. He received his final vows of renunciation (sannyas) from Sri Daya Mata in 1955, at which time he took the monastic name “Bimalananda” (“bliss through purity”).
Daya Mataji: “How lovingly God responds to those who approach Him with childlike simplicity, love, and purity of heart. That was Brother Bimalananda’s nature…Our dear Brother Bimalananda, a faithful, dedicated disciple of Gurudeva for 62 years…is much missed in our ashram family and also by the many devotees who appreciated his kindness and guidance, and were uplifted by his humble devotion to God and Guru…Many devotees were inspired by his humility and sincere caring for their well-being and will always warmly remember him.
“Throughout his lifetime he never wavered from the commitment he had made in his heart and soul to Guruji. He is surely reaping now the blessings for that steadfast loyalty and devotion…”
